The Pre & Postnatal Care Centre is a three-storey building that spans 32,000 square feet. The facility provides temporary housing for indigenous mothers, infants, and families that are based in remote communities and must travel to the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Min Health Centre (regional hospital) for childbirth. These individuals reside at the facility before and after giving birth and have access to a variety of medical services and cultural support through the First Step Women’s Shelter and the Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre. The Pre & Postnatal Care Centre provides a total of 31 units, offering one-bedroom to three-bedroom layouts. Additionally, the facility features treatment rooms, administrative offices, and community rooms.
